Facebook recently alleged that Lovely Faces, a "dating" site has illegally accessed 250,000 profiles on Facebook and uploaded them on their site. This has raised concerns on the data privacy measures undertaken by social networking sites and highlights issues about the vulnerability of personal data on Facebook.
Paolo Cirio, an Italian Media artist and Alessandro Ludovico, Editor in Chief of Neural magazine in Italy say that Lovely Faces was created only to show the world how easy it is to misuse data posted on websites like Facebook.
Facebook is rather peeved at the statement and has asked the duo to delete all data that they have confessed to scrape using an automated bot program. Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt says that scraping people's information from its site is a violation of its terms and due action will be taken in this regard.
